The Shin

The Shin consists of ZaZa Miminoshvili on acoustic guitar and Zurab J. Gagnidze on a fretless acoustic bass guitar. The Shin is the Georgian term for „home“.
The Shin is exciting and complex music, a fascinating amalgamation of Caucasian culture and jazz, European and oriental music.

The sonorous constructions that these two musician pile up connect lyrical passages of fragile beauty with wildly rapid cascades of notes and playful rhythms. This is world music without the slightest forced ethnic flavor, the perfect stuff for anyone wanting to discover new sonorities and having an open ear for musical surprises. These two musicians are both virtuosic and humorous and explore all the possibilities of their respective instruments. The Shin is firmly rooted in tradition without standing still. The Shin brings a new sound that does not try to plough ahead in avant-garde manner. The personalities behind The Shin are in fact two musicians who have worked intensely for years as composers and live and studio musicians. A great deal of theater and film music has been born from their creative potential. In Georgia, where they hail from, they have won prizes at various festivals and they have released CDs in collaboration with the group ADIO.
