Entry requirements:
Soloists and groups in all styles may apply as long as the guitar is the main instrument. Professional guitarists are excluded from the competition, i.e., any contract with a record company is unacceptable.
There is no age limit for the Open Strings guitar competition.
Festival staff and their family members are not allowed to participate in the competition.

How to apply:
Each participant must send a sound carrier (cassette or CD) with three cuts and include a thumbnail biography (age, profession, musical training) to the following address: Acoustic Music – PO Box 1945 – D-49009 Osnabrueck, Germany (mention Open Strings Guitar Competition). The cassette or cd may contain own compositions, arrangements or works by other composers.

Deadline:
August 15, 2005.

The competition:
Five applicants will be selected from all the cassettes or cds in a preliminary round. They will be invited to the guitar festival in Osnabrueck. On the second day of the festival (October 17, 2004), all five contestants will perform two works each at a public event. Three contestants will be selected for the final by a jury – consisting of professional guitarists and journalists. The final elimination contest and the awarding ceremony will be held on 16th of October, 2004 just before the evening concert.

Prizes:
1st Prize: a CD production on the Acoustic Music Label
2nd Prize: a EUR 200,- for CD or sheet music at Acoustic Music
3rd Prize: a EUR 100,- for CD or sheet music at Acoustic Music
